Trish Flaig, MBA, MSLM, RDA
WSDA Director of Regulatory & Compliance Strategy
Trish Flaig, MBA, MSLM, RDA leads regulatory and compliance strategy for WSDA’s ComplyBetter program, helping dental offices understand and apply complex requirements in practical ways. She supports the development of ComplyBetter’s compliance tools, resources, and training, and helps dental teams navigate questions related to OSHA, HIPAA, and Washington-specific dental practice requirements.
With 20 years of experience in dentistry as a registered dental assistant and practice manager, Trish understands the realities of a busy dental office. She also supports WSDA’s regulatory analysis, rulemaking review, and advocacy work, giving her insight into how compliance requirements are developed, interpreted, and applied in practice.
Trish’s approach is clear, practical, and solutions focused. She enjoys translating complicated rules into manageable next steps so practices can save time, reduce stress, and stay focused on patient care. Her goal is to make compliance feel clear, approachable, and less intimidating.
Outside of work, Trish enjoys gardening, hiking, and rockhounding across the Pacific Northwest with her family.
Madelaine Katz, MPH
WSDA Membership Engagement & Growth Specialist
Madelaine Katz, MPH joined the WSDA team in 2025 as the Membership Engagement & Growth Specialist. She supports members and their offices in getting connected with member benefits and programs, such as ComplyBetter and WSDA L&I Advantage. Maddy comes from the world of global public health and uses her skills in program development and relationship building to support offices in providing excellent care to their patients. She is here to support you in making compliance easy, approachable, and stress-free for you and your team.
In her free time, Maddy can be found exploring all the nature that the PNW has to offer, or watching whales!
Teara McConnell, DAANCE, DAA
WSDA Regulatory & Compliance Coordinator
Teara McConnell, DAANCE, DAA supports the day-to-day experience of ComplyBetter users, helping dental offices navigate the platform, get onboarded, and find answers to their compliance questions. She works closely with offices as they get started and continues to be a supportive resource as they use ComplyBetter to manage their compliance needs.
Teara started her career in dentistry 10 years ago, growing from a dental assisting extern into a DAANCE-certified Dental Anesthesia Assistant and office manager — experience that gives her an understanding of the realities of a busy dental office. What she loves most is working alongside dental teams to help them grow and support their offices with confidence.
She believes compliance does not have to be the topic everyone dreads. By taking compliance on together, teams can turn something that once felt stressful or easy to avoid into something they understand, feel confident owning, and can even have a little fun with along the way.
That belief shapes how Teara works. She brings an upbeat, relatable energy to compliance, helping teams feel comfortable asking questions, connecting with the process, and feeling supported instead of overwhelmed. Her goal is to help dental teams take compliance head-on, together.
Teara lives in Olympia, WA, and enjoys soaking up the sun, kayaking, and playing backyard volleyball with her family.
